Annual Juried exhibition
“Memento: juried exhibition of Art that reminds us”
9th Street Studios,August 10th - October 4th
Application Deadline, June 7th, 2024
Humble, ordinary items can become sacred artifacts when they are imbued with personal sentiment. The juried art show, “Memento: Art that Reminds Us” seeks to explore the objects that encapsulate a specific moment in our personal stories, and our attachment to those memories. All media will be considered so long as it can be mounted to a wall. Maximum size in any direction is 36” and cannot exceed 25 lbs.
The MEMENTO exhibition posits that the IDEA is just as important as the ART. Artists are asked to submit a short (150 word or less) explanation of their interpretation of the MEMENTO theme. The Jurors are not looking for complicated, pretentious, formal essays. The Jurors are looking for a clear, coherent interpretation of the MEMENTO theme. These short essays are worth 50% of the score. The Wichita Adult Literacy Council has offered to assist any Artist with their application and/or essays, FREE OF CHARGE.
