Charlie Roberts
My name is Charlie Roberts, otherwise known as Cha Sue, and I was born on July 4th, 1996 in Wichita Falls, Texas. I have been making art and playing music my entire life. In 2017, I formed the Angry Girls Art Collective here in Wichita Falls and curated a group art show at 9th St Studios in spring of 2019. In the Fall of 2020 I chose to withdraw from the Angry Girls to work on myself and my healing after the passing of my beloved Grandmother, Billie Jo in August of the same year. In May of 2021, I experienced a manic psychosis due to mental illness and unchecked grief. It was in a psychiatric ward far away from home where I experienced what some would call an “ego death” after I was given a hardcore amount of medication to bring me back to reality. Fortunately I came back, but I, and my art, were forever changed by my experiences while psychotic and in the psychiatric ward. In spring of 2022, I went back to school to start my path towards achieving a Bachelors of Arts degree so that one day I may land a job in the art field.
