“The #Merica exhibit" by Rodney D Butler

Jan 30-Mar 12, 2021

“This is an ongoing series of painting and sculptures representing the American Experience. In this series, my artwork is a visual depiction of the good, the bad and the ugly, of what has been long thought to be the greatest country in the world. The pieces illustrate her beauty, triumphs, tragedies, and resolution, along with her dirty little secret and less favorable truths. This series is designed to provoke mixed emotions and spark conversation encouraged by a crashing wave of conscious thought. This series is not painted from one perspective, rather from various points of view, whether it be race, gender, sexuality, religion or heritage. This series highlights the fact that America is still a melting pot of cultures and experiences. Because there are too many experiences to put on canvas at one time, like this country, this series will continue to grow as the American waking consciousness grows.” Rodney D Butler
